About the position: Utility Workers II perform a variety of jobs in the construction, maintenance, repair and operation of City equipment and facilities. Utility Workers II drive trucks that require a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL within 6 months of hire, training provided) to transport materials and crews and, depending on assignment, perform semi-skilled work in a variety of construction, maintenance and operational functions. Utility Workers II perform manual labor ground activities such as digging, grading, raking on a patch crew; operate compressors and a variety of air tools, power articulated tools and miscellaneous small hand and power tools. Utility Workers II also perform minor maintenance and repair activities on assigned tools and equipment, work closely with journey trades person such as carpenters, electricians, finishers, plumbers, and operators; and respond to questions from citizens explaining city policy and procedures.
