This is an entry level administrative and clerical classification requiring some knowledge of the tasks performed. This classification requires extensive public contact greeting and directing visitors to appropriate personnel function within the organization. An employee in this classification responds to routine questions from callers, visitors and/or customers; provides the appropriate information; maintenance or records, some verification and correction of data, and some maintenance of financial and budgetary records. Work involves performing routine tasks in accordance with established procedures and regulations. Supervision is received from a supervisor who reviews work for completeness, accuracy and adherence to standard policies.
Essential Functions
Greets callers, visitors, and/or customers determines the nature of their business and provides appropriate information. Refers callers, visitor, and/or customers to appropriate point of contact within the department or contacts that person by telephone and arranges an appointment, if needed. Directs callers, visitor, and/or customers to proper locations. Maintains contact with personnel via city established systems (i.e., two-way radio, email, etc.). Responds to routine questions from callers, visitors and/or customers; provides information concerning the work of various city departments or the location of offices. Maintains department/building visitor's log. May be required to monitor safety and security systems. May be required to complete security/maintenance complaint reports and contacts appropriate personnel to investigate. Completes and maintains daily reports. Performs routine clerical tasks, such as filing, copying etc. Performs related work as required.
Minimum Requirements
A high school diploma or its equivalent. One year (1) year experience involving public contact in a customer service environment. OR Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of the required experience detailed above. NOTE:Spanish language proficiency is preferred.

To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of college/university transcripts of sixty (60) college credits or more, from an accredited institution, OR any higher accredited degree such as an Associate's, Bachelor's, Master's degree or higher. - Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies: Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, ORA current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), ORA current member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE), ORA recognized Professional Organization.
