The Sheriff's Office is currently looking for detail-oriented individuals to become a Sheriff's Records and Identification Clerk I. This position is eligible for appointment at step 1, $45,364.80 annually. County employees are subject to the County Promotion Rule for Step Placement in Accordance with Compensation Ordinance 1.3.5. Sheriff's Records & Identification Clerk I serves as the entry-level position in the Sheriff's Records & Identification Clerk Series. In this role, employees develop the skills to locate, access, and distribute confidential criminal records to authorized law enforcement agencies, courts, and personnel. As experience grows, incumbents take on more complex and independent responsibilities, including detailed records maintenance, penal code compliance tasks, and conducting and updating database queries. This role supports the 24/7 operations of the Sheriff's Records Division. It requires flexibility, as assignments include rotating shifts -days, evenings, nights - as well as work on holidays and weekends. Education, training, and/or experience demonstrating possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed above. Qualifying education/experience: 1. Eighteen (18) months of full-time, progressively responsible clerical experience;2. OR; Six (6) months of full-time clerical experience, AND, completion of a college-level clerical business curriculum, which included a class in computer operation/literacy. Working Conditions. Work primarily takes place in an office environment. Incumbents are frequently exposed to computer screens. Incumbents will be assigned shift work (days, evenings, and nights), holidays and weekends. Prior to appointment, candidates will be subject to a thorough background investigation which may include a truth verification examination or test. Evaluation. Qualified candidates will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment and supplemental applications.
