JOB OPPORTUNITY
The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of temporary not-to-exceed three-month Library Services Manager at the Berkeley Public Library. Working closely with the Central Supervising Librarians, Circulation Services Manager, and the Acting Deputy Director, this person will be expected to support Central Library operations. Working with the Circulation Services Manager and Supervising Librarians, this person will be easing Berkeley Public Library during a transition to working with a new Berkeley Public Library vendor, which provides guards to staff library buildings. This person will also be asked to meet weekly with three Central Supervising Librarians and to support them in coaching their teams. The Central Library Services Manager will also respond to Central Library incidents in the Patron Incident Tracking System by issuing suspensions and ensuring staff feel supported in these situations. Lastly, this person will contribute to shaping weekly Leadership Team meeting agendas as well as semimonthly Library Council agendas. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is equivalent to graduation from a college or university with a Master's degree in Library Science and five (5) years of experience in the supervision of library programs and services, including at least two (2) years of employee supervisory experience. Other requirements: Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
