LSU Health School of Dentistry Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department is seeking a motivated applicant for the position of Health Information Coordinator 1, 2 or 3 Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in administrative services; OR - One year of training in or completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum from a business school or technical institute. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the required general experience. Job Duties and Other Information Duties and responsibilities included, but not limited to:Will have knowledge of HIC 1 and HIC 2 duties. Receives and ensures that all referral paperwork submitted is processed. Enters all the patient data in Win. OMS, Axium, and one drive. Advise patients on insurance specific guidelines and notify them of non-covered services. Collects payments from patient for services. Completes encounter slips for billing. Secure all payment deposits. Ensures the scheduling of all follow up visits. Assists in reviewing accounts receivables and clearing out reports as needed. Assists with obtaining medical clearance from outside medical doctors, track clearances assuring approval was received as needed. Communicates well with diverse population of patients, faculty, students, and staff. Core competencies include:Communicating effectively: The ability to relay information correctly and appropriately to connect people and ideas. Focusing on Customers: The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided. Following Policies and Procedures: The ability to comply with policies and procedures of the organization as well as State Civil Service rules, and all applicable federal and state laws. Appointment Type: Classified Probational Appointment Career Progression: This position is part of the career progression group may be filled as a Health Information Coord 1, 2 or 3 Work Schedule: Monday- Friday; work hours will be determined by the department Work Location: 1100 Florida Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70119 Compensation: There is a starting rate of $18.75 for the HIC 3, $16.37 for the HIC 2 and $15.30 for the. HIC 1 per hour. Pay is dependent upon applicants’ qualifications. There is an additional $1 Longevity Pay for hours worked only.
