Position and Salary. The Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full time AGO Investigator/ Analyst Supervisor in the Consumer Protection Division. This position is located in Spokane, Washington, and is represented by the Washington Federation of State Employees (WFSE). AGO Investigator/ Analyst Supervisor Salary Range 69: $87,048 - $117,120 annually The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend. The AGO is a place to belong and make a difference! About the Consumer Protection Division:The Consumer Protection Division (CP) is composed of attorneys and professional staff. The division enforces the Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86) and other statutes to help keep the Washington marketplace free of unfair and deceptive practices. The division investigates and files legal actions to stop unfair and deceptive practices, recovers refunds for consumers, seeks penalties against offending entities, and recovers costs and fees to ensure that wrongdoers pay for their actions. Division staff participate in the many legislative initiatives that affect consumer protection each year. The Consumer Protection Division also includes public service programs including the Consumer Resource Center and administers the Washington State Lemon Law Program and the Manufactured Housing Dispute Resolution Program. Duties and Essential Functions of an AGO Investigator/ Analyst Supervisor: The Office of the Attorney General will provide excellent, independent, and ethical legal services to the State of Washington and protect the rights of its people. This position supports that mission by conducting investigations statewide involving vulnerable consumers and other entities or issues that fall under the AGO’s enforcement authority. This position will perform investigations with a focus on complex matters with a wide scope in Eastern Washington. These investigations may include matters having a high degree of sensitivity due to the nature of issues and/or persons who are involved, the potential for significant economic or political impact, and media interest. These investigations involve broad public harm, multiple victims, and numerous statutes. Supervise work performance, mentor investigator growth, review work product for sufficiency and excellence, and draft and submit performance management reports in accordance with agency policy. Direct and actively oversee investigative activity of those assigned, ensuring thorough, fact-based support of AA - Gs on all matters assigned to the team by Division management. Use your years of investigative experience to advise and support the Investigations Manager and Division leadership to meet AGO policies, procedures, and strategic goals. Takes the lead role in comprehensively investigating consumer protection cases of unfair, deceptive, unlawful, or fraudulent activity, which may lead to civil or criminal litigation. Interviews potential defendants, informants, and witnesses and prepares reports and drafts declarations or other witness statements in accordance with their statements. Locates witnesses and may testify in court. Independently prepare investigative reports or spreadsheets summarizing evidence and strength of evidence; analyzes documents and other physical evidence; secures evidence; organizes and presents evidence to support civil enforcement actions. These reports will be reviewed and used by AA - Gs in civil enforcement actions. Independently draft or assist in drafting Civil Investigative Demands, subpoenas, or other discovery. Independently assist in drafting or reviewing drafts of complaints, consent decrees, other court documents, and enforcement letters. Required Qualifications - This position is open to current permanent employees of the Washington State Office of the Attorney General only. Bachelor’s degree and ten years of experience conducting investigations, which include the authority to independently plan and conduct investigations in civil or criminal cases. At least two of these years must include supervision of investigators. Additional qualifying investigative experience may substitute year for year for education. OR - Five years experience as an AGO Senior Investigator/ Analyst.
