The Pathfinders program in Colorado is a career program for individuals to be hired by Intermountain for entry-level jobs in healthcare. This title can only be used for caregivers who participate in this program. This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed and tracked in a quality / timely manner throughout the hospital. Will train to perform these duties independently and without close supervision. Once completed, the Pathfinders platform will direct you back to the job application for you to complete. Essential Functions. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes, disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items to the floor. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes, use of engraver, reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with the Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse including order status, back orders and/or changes. Responds to emergency situations by insuring all emergency, trauma and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Provides on the job training on the job training (OJT) to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes mission, vision, and values of Intermountain Health, and abides by service behavior standards. May be required to work overtime based on business need; May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business need and may be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
