This Chicago location provides energy management systems to the Freight Car Market; Draft Gears, Slack Adjusters, Handbrakes, Spherical Articulated Connectors, TMX/ UBX Truck Mounted Brake Systems. How will you make a difference? As a member of the Cardwell location of the Components group, you will be responsible for engaging in communication with supervisor, various product line departments, customer service team and directly with customer to ensure on-Time delivery and meet other requirements safely and accurately. Managing the logistics of sending and receiving goods, ensuring timely deliveries, and accurate documentation. Coordinating with carriers, warehouse teams, and customers to prepare shipments, resolve delays, and maintains records in a fast-paced environment. Focus on safety and quality while meeting customer demands is a top priority. This role requires good communication skills and proficient use of computers for communication and order processing. What do we want to know about you? Education/ Experience:Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one year or more related experience and/or training. Two years of experience in shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment. Experience operating forklifts and other shipping equipment. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Working knowledge of Oracle or similar ERP systems. Ability to work unsupervised in a fast-paced environment. What will your typical day look like? Responsible for coordinating incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. References for records of unfilled orders (Backlog) to determine priority of outbound shipments. Prepares outgoing material for shipment by following shipping instructions. Utilizes Oracle to process shipments, pick to order, generate BO - Ls, pack lists, and invoices. Determines space requirements and position of shipment in boxcars and trucks – pallet count, weight and dimensions. Communicates with customers on the readiness of shipments regarding their shipping methods. Responds promptly to customer needs; Solicits customer feedback to improve service; Responds to requests for service and assistance. Contacts trucking company directly or 3rd party logistics group to schedule pickups (email or phone)Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas. Receives incoming material into Oracle and consults with Purchasing department on any necessary resolutions. Trained and experienced in operating a sit-down forklift. Maintains forklift maintenance reports and keeps files updatePackages and processes outbound parcel shipments UPS/ FedEx/ DHL - Performs 5 S functions to ensure safety, quality and performance is achieved. Serves as a “back-up” to the supervisor when needed. – Additional training and compensation provided when performing this function. Observes safety and security procedures; Reports potentially unsafe conditions; Uses equipment and materials properly. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; Gathers and analyzes information skillfully; Develops alternative solutions; Works well in group problem solving situations. Works closely with Operations Manager, Operations Shipping and Receiving Supervisors and team leads to ensure good on time delivery performance and other KPIs for the area. What about the physical demands of the job? Physical Demands:Must be able to regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds. Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, bend, or crouch. Work Environment:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions. Heated dock and warehouse, PPE required in production areas as defined by plant policies. You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary. The hourly rate for this role is in the range of $24.00 - $26.00 per hour. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
