This recruitment will be used to fill one student employee (a maximum of 24 hours per week) for Memorial Union at Oregon State University. The Memorial Union (MU) supports the University mission by creating community centered inclusive facilities and environments, providing formal and informal gathering spaces that build meaningful relationships. We are a student-centered organization that fosters student engagement through employment and engages in shared decision making with the Student Advisory Board. The Memorial Union staff value service, inclusion, and accountability. This position will work with the MU Project Manager on projects for the facilities that the MU maintains. The focus of this position will be on the interior spaces of the historic Memorial Union’s meeting spaces and lounges, Cultural Centers, and the Student Experience Center. In this position, students learn and build vital career-readiness skills in the primary areas below: Communication, Critical Thinking, Teamwork, and Leadership. Position Duties Assist the MU Project Manager in coordinating projects specific to the interior spaces and furnishings. Build project timelines and scope of work for projects. Work with the building occupants, program owners and the Project Manager in the coordination, and delivery for incoming projects. Budget tracking for individual projects and preparing reports. Prepare and manage verbal and electronic communication about projects, including job walks with requesters and service providers, record keeping project progress, tracking budgetary records such as bids, proposals, and purchase orders. Coordinate with building occupants, service providers and MU leadership for project impacts such as noise, dust, and intrusion. Use Outlook email, Microsoft Office Products, Teams, Zoom, and Maintenance Connection software system to track project records. Specific Task Examples (Not all encompassing):-Redesign interior space to support programs, projects, or personnel.-Coordinate office moves, adds, changes or installations with MU Staff & Vendors and coordination with OSU Surplus as needed.-Use Revit or SketchUp to draw interior spaces, layouts, and plans.-Conduct client meetings.-Create Work Orders (WO) and Purchase Orders (POs). Minimum Qualifications Full Employment Eligibility Requirements can be found here: Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term - Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term - - International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center. Additional Required Qualifications CUSTOMER SERVICE Customer Interaction – articulates clearly and listens to customers, maintains good eye contact, and focuses on individual customers, and puts the customer first. Presentation – positive image and reflection of self and the Memorial Union. Customer Satisfaction – follows through with customers to meet their expectations for service, and is persistent and creative in meeting customer needs. Must be in the Interior Design program at OSU. RESPONSIBILITY Attendance – arrives on time for shifts, works during scheduled hours, and plans for replacements as needed. Accuracy – is precise and works within allotted time limits, acknowledges when mistakes or missed deadlines occur and notifies supervisor appropriately. Accountability – makes appropriate decisions regarding behavior, recognizes, and accepts consequences of actions, and acts in a dependable manner. Job Knowledge – knows job description and understands what the job entails, knows relevant information and policies, and seeks clarification when needed. TEAMWORK Communication – communicates information to team members, customers, and team leadership, and displays ability to adjust communication style appropriately. Group Participation – attends team meetings and contributes to dialog, and supports others and appropriately adapts behavior in response to team needs. Values Difference – relates well with team members and customers from diverse backgrounds, interests, and values, and understands, recognizes, and behaves appropriately when cultural differences exist.
