Dr. Nam Lee's Laboratory seeks a Researcher/ Scientist III who will support molecular, cellular, and whole animal research investigating cardiac and skeletal muscle via planning, organization, and execution of common molecular biology techniques and specialized functional assays. The incumbent will design protocols, collect and interpret data, and serve as lab manager in order to coordinate lab activity and maintain safety and organizational standards. Duties & Responsibilities Independently manages laboratory operations, including chemical inventories, supplies, compliance records, SOPs, and equipment maintenance and repair, ensuring adherence to applicable safety regulations and institutional standards. Coordinate and guide undergraduate student workers and support staff on laboratory procedures and expectations. Provide orientation for new laboratory members and serve as the chemical safety coordinator to ensure compliance with institutional and industry standards. Manage multiple transgenic and CRISPR gene-edited mouse lines and coordinate breeding, weaning, and related animal husbandry activities. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to student workers on mouse genotyping via PCR, coordinate tissue harvests allocation across multiple projects, and maintain and ensure integrity of detailed animal databases. Serve as IACUC protocol contact and contribute to protocol amendments, reviews, and regulatory compliance activities required for the research program. Plans, organizes, and conducts research for use in projects and independently performs work complementary to the overall research objective. Develops hypotheses, designs and performs experiments, generates quality data, and analyzes findings using appropriate scientific and statistical methods. Performs and refines molecular, biochemical, and functional assays including enzyme assays, protein expression and chromatography, electrophoresis, immunoblotting, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, DNA cloning, and muscle tissue measurements. Participate in the acquisition of research funding by assisting with and contributing to grant proposals, supporting documents, and literature review. Participate in the writing and research for manuscripts, articles, presentations, and other scholarly products. Co-author publications and participate in or present research findings at conferences and scientific meetings. Advise the PI and research team on the development of methods, protocols, analyses, and data interpretation. Develop, analyze, implement, and troubleshoot new techniques, procedures, and workflows to improve research quality and efficiency. Review relevant literature, summarize emerging approaches, and provide technical recommendations that inform future project design and execution. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience with mouse and/or rat husbandry. Experience mentoring and/or training undergraduate students.
