JOB SUMMARY - Works under moderate supervision to provide training and working supervision of lower level Animal Care Attendants, and provide care and maintenance of laboratory animals and animal facilities. EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION - Required. Experience. Six (6) months experience with maintenance and use of industrial machinery. Preferred. Education. High School Diploma or GED. JOB DUTIES - Comply with and wear required personal protective equipment. Conduct training activities in cage wash areas. Coordinate and/or perform preventative maintenance on all cage washing and processing machinery, equipment, and materials. Make repairs as necessary; maintain organization and up-keep of physical environment in areas of responsibility. Coordinate record maintenance. Generate and submit internal reports in required formats and timeframes, including autoclave cycles, tunnel and rack washer operations and sanitation. Report any operations-related issues to the supervisor. Conduct routine inspection of cage wash facilities, equipment, and materials to determine degree to which established levels of materials are available, sanitation levels are being met/exceeded and animal facility support is adequate. Participate in providing on-the-job training and mentorship of Animal Care Attendants and Animal Care Trainees. Participate in implementation and compliance of site-specific standard operating procedures (SOPs). Oversee consistent practice of general safety policies and procedures and MSDS guidelines. Maintain required attendance level and adherence to work schedule in accordance with required staffing levels in order to ensure that assigned duties are completed. May provide direction and job assignments to several Animal Care Attendants. Ability to work weekends as assigned. Perform all duties of Animal Care Attendant. Perform other duties as assigned.
