The Farm to School Produce Production Coordinator leads the strategic development, implementation, and sustainability of district produce production sites and school gardens across Houston ISD, overseeing training for school garden instructors and the operation of HISD food production locations to support the Child Nutrition Program. The Produce Production Coordinator adheres to Good Agricultural Practices, utilizing regenerative and conventional agricultural practices to produce a safe food product to be consumed by Houston ISD students. This role requires coordination with the Education CTM and Operations Coordinator, Executive Chef, Dieticians and Menu Planners; and Grounds and Maintenance. Additionally, participation in conferences, webinars, and collaborations with agricultural and educational organizations is required to enhance program effectiveness and ensure compliance with district and state guidelines. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES - List most important duties first 1. Develop annual crop plan, planting and harvesting schedules that support the Child Nutrition Program and Farm to School activities 2. Train, and supervise farm workers, seasonal labor, and interns, assigning tasks to optimize daily operations 3. Oversee procurement and management of supplies for district production sites including soil, tools, seeds, irrigation 4. Track farms yield, maintenance records, produce sells and produce distributions either into the meal program or to food pantries. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED 5.
