The Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Central Region Highways & Aviation is looking for an Equipment Operator, Journey 1/2 Flex in Quartz Creek to help us Keep Alaska Moving! Depending on the experience of the chosen candidate, this role may be filled at either the Journey 1 or Journey 2 level. To be eligible for Journey 2, a valid class A CDL is required. Equipment Operator, Journey 1: $28.78-$30.76 / Hourly (OT Eligible)Equipment Operator, Journey 2: $30.60-$32.71 / Hourly (OT Eligible)What you will be doing:As part of a maintenance crew, this position performs various tasks associated with the year-round maintenance of state highways within the Peninsula District. The work includes but is not limited to operating and servicing heavy and light-duty equipment, maintenance of all vegetation, signs, barricades, fences, bridges, culverts and drainage structures, bike paths and road surfaces within the State Right-of-Way, as well as performing traffic control duties. Perform snow and ice removal with plow/sanders and graders with all attachments. Incumbent will be assigned the Quartz Creek maintenance station. At the Equipment Operator, Journey 1 level, the incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journey-level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of light duty equipment to perform maintenance activities in support of State of Alaska mission and maintenance of infrastructure. Use of heavy-duty equipment will be in a training capacity. At the Equipment Operator, Journey 2 level, the incumbent will perform equipment operations commensurate with a journeyman level operator. The main focus of this position will be to utilize various types of heavy equipment to perform maintenance activities. Shift work may be required.
