Under the direct supervision of the Lead Safety Technician, and the Safety Technician Supervisor, a Security Officer’s primary role is the protection of teammates and property. A Security Officer will always work in a safe manner and will always report any unsafe conditions immediately. Essential position responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to: Maintain a professional appearance while on duty, including personal grooming. Act in a professional manner when dealing with the general public and fellow teammates. Control plant entry and egress through proper clearances. Control traffic at vehicular, railroad and pedestrian gates. Record arrivals and departures of personnel as required. Maintain electronic/ paper logs and other records as required. Conduct vehicle searches at gates. Perform other duties as required by department supervision. Support the Safety Technicians in the field. Teammates will be required to work varied shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. Minimum Qualifications: High School Graduate or G.E.D. equivalent Valid California Driver’s License Preferred Qualifications: Possession of an active Guard Card Previous experience or training in Security or Fire preferred E. M. T. Certification
