The Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine seeks applicants for a Laboratory Technician to become a participating member of the P 3 Systems Biology Lab led by Dr. B. Bishal Paudel. The incumbent will participate in research utilizing systems approaches to investigate heterogeneity in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and contribute to lab management. The successful candidate will be expected to: Use experimental methods including handling cell culture of human cell lines, flow cytometry, protein assays, and real-time PCR. Ability to work with large datasets and use data analytical/statistical approaches to interpret high-throughput data. Work with students, post-docs, and other members of the lab to assist in conducting all aspects of experiments. Perform lab management tasks including ordering and receiving, equipment service, and coordinate schedules for lab meetings and shared equipment. Compliance with University, Federal, and State policies and procedures; and consulting with the Principal Investigator regularly. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Minimum Requirements:Bachelor's degree required, may accept combination of experience/education/certification in lieu of degree. Experience: 1 year of relevant lab experience required. Preferred knowledge skills and abilities:Preference for those with a degree in a related science field and prior lab experience. Self-guided and creative in seeking possible solutions to experimental/design challenges. Strong communication skills. Experience working with laboratory animals.
