Will:Performs basic patient care activities as delegated including monitoring vital signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and pulse oximitry. In collaboration with the RN, will administer specific drugs and solutions as prescribed and according to hospital/unit policy/procedure. Reports abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Prepares hemodialysis equipment and solutions for patient use, including bicarbonate and acidified solutions. Cleans and prepares the patient station utilizing infection prevention measures which may include sterile technique. Access the patients’ bloodstream via needles or catheter, in addition to the sterilization of the equipment used during dialysis. Assists with keeping patient treatment area stocked, clean and orderly. Complete Quality Control checks throughout the day.
