Lakewood Family Health Center’s Emergency Department is open 24/7 for infants through adults with 20 treatment rooms and convenient access to an outpatient laboratory, radiology services and outpatient family health center services. The Emergency Department is a wonderful place for someone who wants to work with diverse populations of patients and develop a wide skillset treating a variety of medical problems. As RN in the Emergency Department (ED), you will help patients feel comfortable, at ease and supported while receiving treatment. This position requires a caregiver who is empathetic, understanding and nurturing to ensure quality patient care and effective life-saving treatment. Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. A caregiver in this position works nights from 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. with every other weekend and holiday rotation requirements. A caregiver who excels in this role will:Provide direct nursing care. Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions. Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns. Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR American Red Cross within one year of hire. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
