Research Study Protocol (40%):Identifying, screening, recruitment, and consent of study participants. Implementing actively participating in study visits, including the collection of data from measures of physical, psychological, and cognitive functioning. Tracking participants throughout studies, including assuring accurate accrual and tracking of clinical data points. Serving as primary contact for participant inquiries and independently resolving issues as they arise. Participating in the timely payment of study participants. Coordinating with the study investigators to monitor study budgets. Extracting technical, medical, and/or behavioral information from institution or clinical records of research participants. Screening medical records for study eligibility. Data Management (30%):Assisting with the implementation and oversight of RED - Cap databases to collect study data. Reporting problems, such as protocol deviations, to supervisors of the study. Participating in the cleaning, preparing, and producing of study data. Team Communication and Participation (20%):Participating in team and project meetings, taking and distributing concise and clear meeting minutes. Regularly apprises team of progress, issues, and questions. Training staff and volunteers in tasks related to conducting the funded research projects. Other duties as assigned by the research coordinator or a faculty investigator. Preparation for Study Dissemination (10%):Assisting with preparing or writing study manuscripts. Assisting with preparing research grant proposals. Assisting with preparing study findings for presentations at conferences or in other venues. Required Qualifications. To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Department. Two years of college-level course work in a relevant academic area AND one year of appropriate experience. Additional Qualifications. Superb customer service skills and a commitment to provide best in class service. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills. Experience recruiting, screening, and enrolling participants for clinical trials. Demonstrated problem-solving skills, strong detail orientation, and ability to adeptly manage multiple priorities and timelines. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Preferred Qualifications. Experience conducting neuropsychological testing with participants. Experience with clinical trials and/or longitudinal observational studies of human subjects. Experience working with people with disabilities. Familiarity working with EPIC. Completion of at least one course in research methods and/or statistics in a social sciences field. At least one years’ experience working on a research study examining health issues, or relevant education/experience. Working Conditions. This position will work with clinical research involving human participants within UW Medicine and therefore clinical Responsible Conduct of Research training is required. The training requirement for this position includes UW Medicine-specific as well as general training. About the Team. The Department of Rehabilitation Medicine is home to one of the nation’s leading multiple sclerosis (MS) rehabilitation research programs, which is excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for a Research Study Assistant (RSA). This individual will join the Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation & Wellness Research Center team at the UW Multiple Sclerosis Center, a comprehensive multidisciplinary specialty center that serves patients with MS throughout the Pacific Northwest. Current studies focus primarily on enhancing quality of life, improving psychological coping, and managing MS-related symptoms, including fatigue and chronic pain. Several clinical trials are evaluating innovative telehealth interventions.
