Under the direction of the physical therapist, performs patient care activities in conjunction with the plan of care, including but not limited to; gait training, balance training, therapeutic exercises, modalities and patient education. Documents in medical record. Treats patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and geriatric patients. Education: Associate Degree in an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program. Licensure: Licensed in the State of RI as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Access to reliable transportation in order to service off-site locations. Experience: One year experience preferred. Skills and Abilities: Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills Demonstrates excellent communication skills Skills in organization and priority setting Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Proficiency in English grammar, spelling and punctuation Good Time Management Skills Ability to follow directions Knowledge in physical therapy treatment techniques Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual and cultural diversity of customers Ability to instruct patients and their families Maintains information confidential (HIPAA) Demonstrated customer service skills Ability to responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams. Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements: Visual acuity and hand dexterity. Physical ability involves variety of body movements including stooping, bending, kneeling, lifting, standing, walking, twisting, stretching and reaching. Physical ability involves pushing, pulling and lifting more than 30 lbs
