Professional Learning Specialist (PLS) Under the direction of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, acts as a professional learning coordinator, mentor/coach, facilitator, and member of the leadership team. Acts as a resource for the professional development of teachers. May facilitate various aspects of teacher induction. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community members and school clientele. Responsibilities: Facilitator:Facilitate team, school or feeder meetings to enhance shared responsibility when appropriate. Provide ongoing training to facilitate meaningful Learning Community Work. Enhance dialogue opportunities while building professional community. Facilitate the creation of a supportive, restorative, and inclusive building culture. Professional Learning Coordinator:Coordinate, plan, implement and evaluate professional development aligned with DCSD PD Standards. Arrange peer observations. Lesson Study Design. Facilitate and coordinate Professional Learning Communities. Train mentors, department heads and teacher leaders. Implement job embedded professional learning. Evaluate and provide high quality resources. Liaison between district and site. Collaborative Member of the Building Leadership Team:Lead school initiatives. Collaborate with leadership to build World Class Education opportunities for staff. Work with principal to create Unified Improvement Plan and Professional Development Plan. Backward Plan, implement, evaluate and support professional development to support Site. Mentor/ Coach:Create personalized induction opportunities. Provide support for inductees. Ongoing mentoring of all teachers. Model, co-teach, and Cognitive Coach teachers. Create Differentiated Induction Plans for inductees. Support staff in attaining goals. Facilitate data analysis opportunities 21st Century Skills Leader. Education: Bachelor's Degree. Qualifications: CDE Teaching License Salary Range: $56,366.00 to 119,121.00 Intervention Specialist - Gifted Education Specialist Gifted Education and Programming in Douglas County School District is a collaborative model with general education teachers, support specialists, and administrators working as a team to identify, plan for, and serve gifted learners. Works with students, families, staff, school leaders, and community partners to identify student needs and provide direct and indirect support for gifted learners in order to support each student in reaching his/her potential. Coursework and experience in gifted identification, instructional practices, collaboration and planning, professional development, and service delivery models specific to high potential, advanced, and gifted learners is required. M. Ed. and/or Endorsement in Gifted Education, preferred. Must be able and willing to obtain other certifications required for the position. ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: - Occasional lifting, five (5) to ten (10) pounds - Frequent sitting and standing - Occasional bending and squatting Position Specific Information (if Applicable): Responsibilities:Provide information and strategies to advocate for and support the learning and developmental differences of students with gifts and talents. Participate in, develop, and facilitate continuing professional development to address specific needs of gifted education. Promote ongoing self-understanding and self-awareness for students with gifts and talents. Collaborate with gifted students, staff, administrators, and parents/families to develop understanding of cognitive, academic, and affective needs Facilitate and maintain accountability for the implementation of all rules and regulations pursuant to the ECEA for gifted education at a school/site. Facilitate the Gifted Identification Process at the school/site. Facilitate the creation and maintenance of Advanced Learning Plans (AL - Ps) for all identified gifted learners at the site. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Collaborate/consult with teachers and staff to design and implement instruction based on formal and informal assessments of student abilities, talents, interests, and needs. Meet the duties, physical and mental demands described in this description as representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Collaborate/consult with teachers and staff to differentiate instruction by teaching higher-level thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Recognize the learning and developmental differences of students with gifts and talents, promote ongoing self-understanding, awareness of their needs, and cognitive and affective growth of these students in school, home, and community settings to ensure specific student outcomes. Identify and share learning resources that support higher level thinking skills in all areas for all students. Provide targeted and intensive interventions for identified gifted learners through collaboration and co-teaching using various evidence and research based instructional methods and curriculum resources as necessary and appropriate. Collaborate/consult with teachers and staff to use appropriate assessment information in instructional planning, implementation, and evaluation of student learning for all students. DCSD will award up to 7 years of previous licensed teaching experience at the time of hire.
