Career Advising: 35% of time Work with students in one-on-one appointments and group settings on career-related issues, including advising students in effectively: Learning to identify experiences, interests, and skills and assisting them in effectively articulating their unique career story in writing and verbally Researching internships and careers Preparing resumes and cover letters Practicing Interviewing and networking Conducting a job search – develop an action plan and identify experiences that reflect competencies required of position Researching post graduate opportunities as they relate to our majors Negotiating salary and navigate on-boarding Programming: 35% of time Develop and deliver workshops, class presentations and other career related events Work with assigned academic programs to develop and support programming Employer/ Faculty/ Alumni Relations: 30% of time Develop an awareness and understanding of employers to deliver support for students as they conduct their job search Work with employers to deliver opportunities to our students Meet with undergraduate and graduate advising teams on a regular basis to assure solid communication and collaboration Assist with employer related events such as career fairs and networking events Work with alumni, faculty, and employers to assure the delivery of quality services and opportunities Track employer engagement via our Salesforce database Requirements. Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in business, education, counseling, or related field, as well as 5 years of related experience. Strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies/tools Ability to work collaboratively Ability to work efficiently and with careful attention to detail Experience working with emerging adults, and diverse student populations Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree in business, education, counseling, or a related field Strong teamwork and collaboration skills Experience working with college students, ideally in an advising capacity Understanding of issues facing college students from diverse backgrounds Experience using technology platforms such as Handshake and Salesforce Experience in creating and making presentations Experience coordinating events
