Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Instrumentation & Calibration Technician to work on our Health Physics Laboratory team. Our team works a 4 x 10 schedule located at our Central Facilities Area (CFA) facility at the Health Physics Instrument Laboratory in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every Friday off. At Idaho National Laboratory, you'll develop and revise calibration work instructions, perform calibrations on radiological instruments and electronic dosimeters, interface with customers to resolve equipment issues, and maintain quality records in calibration asset management systems. Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:Health Physics Laboratory:Perform calibrations on radiological exposure/dose rate instruments, contamination survey meters, and electronic dosimeters using appropriate calibration standards and procedures. This includes inspecting and troubleshooting instrumentation, operating radiation-generating devices, creating and maintaining quality records, and calibration asset management software data entry. Perform calibrations of QA and working standard sources in support of the site-wide source assay program. Inspect incoming sources; operate and perform weekly quality checks of designated instruments; maintain graphs of the QA sources and background; generate the source calibration documentation; and data entry into calibration asset management software. Interface with customers to determine their instrumentation needs and establish work priorities. Ensure flexible response to emergency and rush orders of instrument calibrations. Perform QA dosimeter irradiations for the dosimetry group. Required:Level 1: Graduation from high school or equivalency. Level 2: Graduation from high school or equivalency and 2 years of experience radiation safety or in instrument calibration. Related experience determined with the level. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will possess:Associate's degree in a related field is strongly preferred. Vocational Certificate in instrumentation, electronics, or radiation safety preferred.
