Manage the residence life reporting module in Maxient ensuring timely referrals to Community Standards, the CARE Team, Public Safety, Student Health, and the Personal Counseling Center as well as appropriate and timely follow up by residence life staff. Train resident assistants on incident report writing and proper incident response. Serve as a hearing officer for the Office of Community Standards when requested. Support the division wellness programming and implement substance free and alcohol and other drug harm reduction initiatives. Serve as both a facilitator and trainer for CHOICES, BASICS, and Brief Motivational Interviewing (BM - Is). (35%)Support the assistant dean in advising commuter students and offering specialized programming along the PC Path. Maintain and update the department’s website. Respond to concerns from students, parents, and other stakeholders regarding the residential student experience. Conduct roommate mediations, assist with the housing selection process, and manage room changes in the absence of the associate director of housing. (20%)In collaboration with the associate director of housing, coordinate break closing procedures and the move out processes at the end of each semester. Ensure proper signage and communication to the residential student community. Coordinate health and safety inspections each fall and provide proper instruction to resident assistants, graduate assistants, and complex directors. Perform monthly health and safety inspections of student occupied college owned houses. Support the associate director of housing and the Office of Emergency Management in fire drill coordination and training. Assist the associate director of housing with the damage billing process. In collaboration with the assistant dean, coordinate the move in process at the start of each semester. Recruit and train student clubs and organizations to serve as move in volunteers. (20%)With the assistance of the graduate assistant, manage the recruitment, training, and oversight of the front desk community monitor program in the residence halls. Support the Office of Public Safety in their oversight of front desk coverage in the residence halls on weekend nights. Oversee the residence hall guest registrations system and provide weekly updates to the Office of Public Safety on guest registration data. (15%)Supervise one-two complex directors. Provide ongoing support and feedback. Provide training to complex directors and graduate assistants on harm reduction techniques, student conduct philosophy, and incident response. Support the associate director of residence life in staff recruitment, retention, and training initiatives. Serve in the administrator on call rotation on weekends and after hours. (10%)MARGINAL DUTIES:Perform all other duties as may be required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution required. Three to five years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Proven ability to succeed in a fast-paced work environment managing multiple competing priorities and investigations at a time. Ability to work collaboratively as a team. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusivity. Demonstrated understanding of and/or commitment to contribute to the Catholic and Dominican identity of the College. Basic skills with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel. Advance skills with e. Rez. Life and Maxient. Basic skills with Persona, Transact, and S 2.
