The student support teacher works with small groups of students primarily in grades K-5 whose parents have requested and paid for assistance to meet the unique needs of their child. Scope: This position is multifaceted in that the teacher maintains communication with students, parents, teachers, and administrators, with the primary focus on supporting students with learning difficulties. Specific Responsibilities: Work with students in their area of concern to promote their success in the classroom. Communicate student progress or lack of progress to ESE Administrator. Establish and maintain communication with parents. Communicate on a regular basis with students classroom teachers. Create and update daily schedules on a regular basis. Motivate and encourage students. Keep accurate attendance and report to ESE Administrator on a monthly basis for billing purposes. Evaluate and document student progress on an ongoing basis to ensure their needs are being met. Maintain records on Student Support students. Develop and implement a behavior plan that is appropriate for each age level. Assist teachers in determining appropriate interventions and accommodations to use with students in the general education classroom. Participate in Child Study team meetings when necessary. Work with ESE Administrator and teachers to modify classroom environment and curriculum as needed. Meet with ESE Administrator and team to pray and plan for students needs. Read CCA e-mails/ staff communications upon arrival, mid-day, and before departure, and respond if requested to do so. Participate in professional development to enhance job skills. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors. Able to lift 40 pounds. Qualifications/ Skills/ Gifts: Model Christ in word and deed. A strong personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Excellent interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues. Evidence of the working of the Holy Spirit in words and actions. The gift of teaching. Bachelors degree or higher (in Special Education preferred)Ability to tutor/support students in Spanish and English. Florida State Certification in Elementary Education and/or Florida Professional Certification, ACSI Certification, or CSI Certification. Computer skills. Organizational skills. Work Schedule: Scheduled determined according to the Supervisors needs. This is a 10-month position with no summer hours
