Performs difficult professional accounting and financial work utilizing an integrated financial system. Performs detailed worksheet preparation, analysis of financial situations, and completion of monthly financial assignments, with minimal supervision. Performs other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
~ Monitors, reviews, compiles, analyzes, and maintains financial information used in the preparation of internal and external financial reports~ Prepares journal entries, budget transactions, billings, and account reconciliations~ Ensures compliance with County policies and procedures as appropriate~ Prepares financial analyses and financial reports for internal and external use~ Provides counsel to departments on a variety of financial questions, performing research and analyses as required~ Provides support to Fiscal Agent entities to include: monitoring, analysis, accounting, financial statement or Annual Financial Report preparation, and assistance with independent auditors~ Assists independent auditors and in the preparation of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report
REQUIREMENTS/ PREFERENCES
Education:Required: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance or a related field. Experience:Preferred: Some experience in public or private sector accounting. Certifications/ Licenses:Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of accounting principles specifically related to governmental accounting. Ability to analyze and interpret financial data. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge and skill in the use of personal computers utilizing spreadsheet, word processing and graphics applications. Supervisory Responsibilities:None.
