In the absence of the Operations Manager, responsible for the daily operations of the Maintenance Staff. Supervises special (planning, construction, maintenance) projects of County-owned and Park District-owned properties, provides detailed plans, materials list and cost estimates for special projects, assists in projecting needs for equipment, materials and supplies by preparing specifications estimates and bids for machinery and equipment, manages bulk supply items (sand, gravel, trash bags, oil, cleaners, belts), supervises tool room, vehicle/equipment sign in/sign out and equipment inspections. Performs grounds maintenance duties on special projects on all Greene County parks, Greene County Park District parks, all County Commissioners facilities and all County bikeways. Coordinates and organizes; emergency snow removal and natural disaster/emergency crews during work hours and call out situations snow and ice from walks, driveways, park roadways, County parking lots and spreading salt on public passage ways including equipment operations. Operates and performs routine preventative maintenance and washes and cleans equipment. Performs a variety of routine and specialized work in trade areas such as plumbing, concrete work, carpentry, painting, asphalting, electrical, signage development, construction, landscaping and installation. Adds, installs and/or repairs items on sites. Coordinates with Scout projects (boy & girl) to include help with identifying projects, materials, final inspection and approval. Follow up on contractors during special projects. Enforces departmental policies, procedures, regulations, safety, and health standards by staying current with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines, oversees and keep records for herbicide/pesticide spray applications. Coordinates with other divisions of the department, the County and the general public in setting up and taking down equipment for department, park and general public programs and activities; prepares facilities for park, department and general public activities and special events; opens, closes, locks and unlocks facilities. Greets the public and answers questions when needed. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.); 4 yrs. experience in grounds maintenance, including 24 mos. experience as a lead worker or supervisor & use of associated equipment (e.g., applying sprays, planting, transplanting, pruning, trimming, and snow removal); valid Ohio Driver’s License.-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above may be substituted for education and/or experience required. Education and Experience may not be substituted for mandated licensure/certification. Preferred Qualifications:Class A CDL.
