The incumbent is responsible for janitorial duties, laundry, routine minor maintenance and repairs on County buildings, equipment, appliances, facilities, and grounds, including semi-skilled painting, carpentry, electrical work, and minor plumbing repairs, and performing related work as required. The current vacancies exist within the General Services Department. However, the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill vacancies in other County departments as they occur. Fresno County is working together for a quality of life for all. License: Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent, may be required. Note: Incumbents may be required to obtain and maintain Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ) clearance as a condition of employment. Please Note:As a condition of employment, some departments may require candidates to undergo and pass a background investigation and/or polygraph examination. These investigations include employment/credit histories, verification of education, arrest/criminal records, drug/alcohol use, and personal conduct. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive; other relevant areas may be investigated and verified. This classification may require employees to work in Fresno County Detention Facilities. Fresno County Detention Facilities are "no hostage" facilities. This means that in the event you are taken hostage, the County will not bargain for your safe release. SELECTION PROCESS:Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process, and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules. This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back, and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.
