The main project for the internship will include assisting the Transportation Planning Team in a bus stop assessment to understand the conditions of the shelters and other amenities. We will also work to create a project that the intern leads, based on their interests in the field of transportation planning. The intern will work alongside the Bike/ Pedestrian Coordinator to develop study methodologies, conduct site visits, attend meetings, do some community outreach, and work on resume and professional skills. This is an unpaid, internship working directly with the City of Arvada - Transportation Planning Team. A selection of opportunities will be available to the intern such as:Attending a Denver Regional Council of Governments mobility working group meeting. Meeting with and joining a ride with local bike advocate groups. Assisting the Bike Ped Coordinator with Bike to Work Day (June internship only). Job shadowing other members of the Infrastructure Department, per the interests of the intern (engineering, roadway design, community planning etc.). A college resume consultation specific to the planning/transportation planning field.
