SHAPE THE INFRASTRUCTURE OF A VIBRANT CITY - The City of Lynwood is seeking a hardworking, skilled, and service-driven Water/ Wastewater Worker I to join our Public Works team. In this entry-level role, you are the backbone of our community, ensuring that essential water systems are safe, functional, and reliable for all our residents. THE TEAM - The Water/ Wastewater Worker I joins a professional Public Works team dedicated to maintaining the City's vital infrastructure. Reporting to the Water Service Wastewater Lead or Supervisor, this role offers hands-on impact in ensuring the community has access to safe and reliable water services.
Examples of Duties
THE POSITION & IMPACT - Under direct supervision, you will perform entry-level tasks to construct, operate, maintain, and repair the City’s water supply and distribution facilities. System Maintenance: Make water service connections, repair leaks, and install water mains. Operations: Read water meters, record system data, and perform general maintenance on water and sewer systems. Technical Support: Maintain chemical feed equipment and use safety tools for atmospheric testing and confined space entry. Equipment Operation: Proficiently operate backhoes and other heavy power-driven equipment.

Requirements
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR - Certification: Must possess a valid DWOCP Grade I (or higher) Water Distribution Operator Certificate issued by the State of California. License: A valid California Class C driver’s license is required; a Class B license is highly desirable. Physical Ability: Must be able to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds with assistance.
