The Computer Technician provides customer service support to all end users in School District 8. This individual troubleshoots problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end-user training and assistance as required. The computer technician also maintains district technology equipment and IT assets. This individual regularly installs new computer systems and software, configures, diagnoses, repairs, and upgrades district technology, hardware, software, peripherals, and other equipment to ensure the optimal performance of all systems district wide. Essential Job Functions: 1. Provide excellent customer service that is kind courteous, timely, efficient, and solution oriented to all (staff, students, parents & guests) end users. 2. Respond to end-user incidents, requests and problems within the infrastructure through a defined process. 3. Performs on-site analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex computer problems for a variety of end-users, and recommends and implements corrective hardware solutions, including off-site repair as needed. 4. Provides helpdesk support, receives and responds to incoming emails/phone calls or work orders regarding computer, software, and other technology related problems. 5. Remotely performs analysis, diagnoses, and resolves complex computer problems for a variety of end-users. 6. Accurately documents work orders, and user assistance requests, hardware failures, repairs, installations, and equipment removals in the Technology Departments work order "Track It" system. 7. Installs, configures, tests, maintains, computer hardware, software and peripheral devices. 8. Recommends, schedules, and performs computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment improvements, and upgrades. 9. Coordinates and implements procedures for gathering and maintaining hardware and software inventory data as established by the IT department .0. Hardware-independent image creation, certification and automation,11. Supports development and implementation of new computer projects, as well as new software and hardware installations 12. Assists in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs .3. Collaborates with third-party support and computer equipment vendors, if necessary 14. Provides assistance to other members of the Technology Services Department as required .5. Works with Technology Services personnel to order and obtain parts and supplies as needed .6. Perform other duties as assigned. Technical Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:1. Ability to demonstrate the use of computer equipment, software, and peripherals to students and staff 2. Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications 3. Knowledge of technologies available for use in instructional settings 4. Good organizational skills 5. Effective communication skills (oral & written)6. Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities 7. Excellent problem solving skills 8. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time 9. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle computer components for extended periods of time 10. Excellent interpersonal skills 11. Highly self motivated and directed 12. Ability to lift and transport heavy to moderately heavy objects, such as computers and peripherals, up to 70 pounds 13. Exceptional customer service orientation. Materials and Equipment Operating Knowledge:1. Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals .. General understanding of how computers connect to networks / servers 3. Knowledge of basic computer concepts, and the Internet 4. Knowledge of Windows 7, Microsoft Office, and Outlookable perform basic tasks with these applications such as word processing, sending email, etc. 5. Working knowledge of basic hardware such as printers and scanners, media storage .. Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, fax machine, E-mail, etc .. Operating knowledge of thin client/ Citrix, Apple operating systems through OSX and PC operating systems through Windows 7 required for hire. Salary:Computer Technicians are on the Classified Salary Schedule.- FFC 8 allows new hires to bring in up to 8 years of previous experience in similar school type settings- Please understand that new hires tend to start out at the lower end of the salary range. Salary Schedule.
