Performs mechanical, physical, and properties testing on Polyolefin and Specialty Products, including resins, films, and molded parts (e.g., tensile/secant, hot tack, dart, puncture, tear, melt index, density, coefficient of friction (COF), oxygen transmission rate (OTR), water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), heat sealing, Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), and Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA)). Testing may include solid, liquid, and intermediate materials across polymeric and chemical systems. Prepares and tests samples by reading and strictly following detailed ASTM, ISO, and site-specific standard methods to generate high quality, reliable data. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots analytical, physical properties, and process development equipment, including large industrial-scale fabrication equipment (e.g., film and molded parts fabrication). Conducts advanced, controlled testing and scientific experiments to support product development, business decisions, and customer requests; may perform work in fume hoods or dry boxes. Provides analytical testing and technical support for multiple ExxonMobil business lines, including polymer, specialty materials, Proxxima™, and selected chemicals applications. Interfaces daily with internal customers, including PhD. scientists and engineers, and engages external customers as requested by business groups. Calculates, analyzes, interprets, and documents test results; uploads data to digital lab management and work order management systems for technical review. Ensures data integrity and compliance through adherence to quality objectives, site requirements, and safety standards; develops and maintains method documentation, SOPs, and supporting materials. Performs methods and analytical development work as needed to support new products, technologies, and evolving business needs. Solves analytical and technical problems and leads or supports efforts to introduce new testing methods, instrumentation, or technologies. Stewards third party instrument calibrations and performs internal calibrations, equipment verifications, gauge testing, and SQC chart monitoring to ensure quality compliance. Efficiently manages work requests, prioritizes tasks, and maintains turnaround times in alignment with business expectations. Operates and maintains sample inventory systems, including sample handling, tracking, storage, shipping, and proper disposal. Demonstrates strong safety awareness and actively uses Exxon safety tools to enhance personnel and process safety safeguards. About you Skills & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline or relevant equivalent education and/or work experience. Mechanical aptitude or relevant hands-on experience with laboratory, process, or extrusion/fabrication equipment. Experience operating extrusion or similar polymer processing equipment is preferred. Ability to perform safe, reliable, and independent laboratory and technical work with appropriate direction, literature review, and problem framing. Demonstrated ability to learn new techniques, methodologies, equipment, and software as required. Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and verbal instructions, procedures, and technical documentation. Strong problem solving skills, including the ability to diagnose issues and implement effective solutions. High level of attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and precision. Proficient computer skills, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word; ability to quickly adapt to new software systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal effectiveness. Ability to work collaboratively and resolve conflict constructively in a team-oriented environment. Work environment may include exposure to high noise levels (<85 d. B), extreme temperatures, vibration, moving machinery, chemical handling, work at heights, irregular surfaces, and the requirement to wear PPE (e.g., respirators, FR clothing, safety glasses, gloves, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, hard hats). Physical requirements include prolonged standing and walking, stair and ladder climbing, stooping/squatting, pushing/pulling heavy materials, lifting up to 50 lbs, valve operation, and ability to communicate in high noise environments. Additional operational responsibilities may include issuing safe work permits, process monitoring, gas testing, visual maintenance, and unit operations. Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Experience supporting polymer, specialty materials, or chemical product development; customer support testing; or multidisciplinary analytical laboratories.
