The Survivor Advocate Specialist provides confidential, trauma-informed advocacy and crisis response to students impacted by sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, stalking, harassment, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Duties include providing individualized support and referrals, explaining reporting and supportive option pathways (Office of Civil Rights Compliance/ Title IX and CSUPD), maintaining confidential documentation, participating in an on-call rotation, collaborating with campus and community partners, and supporting outreach and prevention programming. The Survivor Advocacy and Foundational Education (SAFE) Center provides support services for survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking; as well as violence prevention and foundational education programs for the CSU campus. Our focus is to cultivate an affirming and trauma-informed culture of consent while working toward systemic change to end all forms of oppression within our community. The SAFE Center ( is situated under the Office of Inclusive Excellence. Essential Job Duties:Provide confidential, trauma-informed advocacy and crisis response to students impacted by sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, stalking, harassment, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Offer individualized support including safety planning, emotional support, academic and housing advocacy, and referrals to on and off campus resources. Explain reporting and disclosure options and support students in accessing supportive measures and university processes as requested. Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation in accordance with university policy, legal requirements, and ethical standards. Respond to after-hours or urgent situations as part of an on-call rotation, ensuring continuity of care and student safety. Assist in outreach efforts, presentations and programming to further SAFE’s mission across campus. Other duties as assigned. Supervision: This position will not be responsible for the supervision of staff. Minimum Experience: Bachelor’s degree plus two years of related work and/or volunteer experience Ability to understand and articulate sex and gender-related needs and concerns. Demonstrated direct experience and understanding working with and supporting various populations. Available to work evenings and weekends as necessary to best meet the needs of our students Preferred Qualifications: Experience working directly with clients in an advocacy, case management, counseling, or related role Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with dynamics related to interpersonal violence Working knowledge of Colorado state statutes, Title IX processes, and legal reporting options Ability to work successfully with persons, programs, organizations, and agencies with distinctly varied missions, goals, and objectives Demonstrated success in educational program design and implementation, preferably in a university setting A record of personal and professional initiative, flexibility, and strong communication skills including public speaking and writing Experience working with crisis intervention via electronic modes of communication: telephone, text, videoconferencing, etc. Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license or access to a licensed driver by the employment start date.
