Monitor and adjust set points and operating parameters of water treatment systems to optimize the performance of mechanical systems and equipment under the guidance of mechanical tradesman leader and foreman. Performs maintenance, operation and repair work on mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment (HVAC, boilers, controls, valves, VFD's, etc.). Updates, maintains and coordinates information and schematic drawings pertaining to the facilities mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Prepares and submits work documentation, to include work order submission, changes made to mechanical system (e.g. controls), etc. Supervises documentation prepared by assigned personnel on water treatment. Responds to emergency calls during business hours, after hours, holidays and weekends to help in mitigating or eliminating the problem (fire alarms, emergency calls, trouble alarms. Following troubleshooting guidelines in accordance with existing procedures and routines). Performs other related and various job duties as assigned including but not limited to fire alarm systems and electrical work. Monitors existing plumbing fixtures servicing mechanical equipment to ensure the efficient utilization of water and the minimization of waste. Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation activities of building systems. Responds to and corrects, environmental calls such as temperature complaints/problems, and performs on-call duties as required. Maintains and monitors building energy management System. Produce reports and energy consumption tends for analysis. Performs preventive maintenance functions on assigned systems and equipment. Responds to work related radio and pager calls. May cover 24 l/7 shifts if required. Actively participates and completes training, personal development and continuing education. Must have a working knowledge of the Metasys system to include basic troubleshooting and programming. Must have and maintain valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. Must be able to pass the employee Criminal Background Check. Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.). In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conducting research involving critical infrastructure as defined by Texas Business & Commerce Code §117.001(2) (formerly Texas Business & Commerce Code § 113.001(2)). Perform all other duties as assigned. Performs skilled work in the maintenance and repair of heating and air-conditioning systems to ensure that a comfortable environment is maintained at all times. The scope of responsibility also includes repair and maintenance of all refrigeration equipment located within the facility, and the performance of preventive maintenance in each of the previously mentioned areas on an established periodic basis. May lead and manage installation, repair, or replacement of HVAC components or systems. Includes all aspects and responsibilities of the HVAC Mechanic trade. Knowledge on how to operate, troubleshoot and maintain water treatment system in air handling units, closed loops and RO/ DI.4 years of combined experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Journeyman level experience and/or required apprentice and vocational training. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and four years of heating and air-conditioning experience. May be required to maintain registrations, professional licenses and/or certifications to perform the duties of the position from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or other state; willing to pursue additional certifications if necessary.
