The Storeroom Clerk is responsible for receiving, inspecting, storing, and issuing materials, supplies, and inventory items in support of daily operations. This role maintains accurate inventory records, supports inventory control processes, and ensures storage areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with company standards. The position requires the ability to safely handle and store perishable goods within a kitchen or food service environment while following proper food safety, sanitation, and inventory handling procedures. Inventory and Material Handling - Receive, unpack, inspect, and store incoming materials, supplies, and inventory items. - Maintain accurate inventory records, logs, and inventory tracking documentation. - Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliation activities. - Issue materials and supplies to internal departments as needed. - Move, organize, and stack materials and inventory within storeroom and warehouse areas. - Operate pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently. - Monitor inventory levels and report shortages or damaged materials as appropriate. Storeroom Operations and Compliance - Maintain storeroom, warehouse, and storage areas in clean, organized, and safe condition. - Ensure perishable goods are properly stored and maintained at required temperatures. - Follow company food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures. - Support compliance with health, safety, and inventory control standards. Previous experience in a storeroom, warehouse, inventory, or food service environment preferred. Experience in handling perishable goods or kitchen-related inventory preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Customer service-oriented with the ability to support internal teams effectively. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions. Basic organizational and inventory management skills. Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy. Ability to meet company attendance and punctuality standards. Professional Licenses, Accreditations and Certifications Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record in accordance with Cotton’s policy Food service or food handling certifications are a plus. Knowledge Basic understanding of inventory control and storeroom procedures. Familiarity with proper food storage, sanitation, and safety practices. Knowledge of safe material handling techniques and equipment use. Working knowledge of inventory logs or tracking systems preferred.
