Applications are being accepted for a full-time, tenure-track faculty appointment in Voice and Director of Choral Activities at the rank of assistant or associate professor beginning August 2026. Music at Houston-Tillotson University is housed in the Department of Humanities and Fine Arts within the College of Arts and Sciences. The successful candidate will join an established choral program at the University, to include the University Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, and other vocal ensembles. This position also includes teaching voice and maintaining an active voice studio for voice majors and some non-majors as well as other courses as needed, relevant to the candidate's experience and expertise. A component of this position is recruiting choral students and voice majors to the music program at Houston-Tillotson University. The University Concert Choir is a prominent musical face for the University and has traveled extensively across the United States and the Caribbean. Continued performing activities locally and nationally are expected. Experience in grant writing is also preferred. TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Direct the University Concert Choir, Opera Workshop, and other vocal ensembles. Teach applied voice lessons to music majors and non-majors. Maintain an active voice studio. Teach additional music courses aligned with expertise and departmental needs. Recruit choral students and voice majors to the music program. Promote and represent the University Concert Choir through local and national performances. Engage in continued professional performance activities. Contribute to departmental and university service. Participate in grant writing and fundraising efforts (preferred).
