Job Summary:The Senior Manager, Sales Learning & Development is responsible for defining and leading Xylem’s global sales learning strategy to build world-class commercial capabilities across the enterprise. This role leads a team of four Sales L&D professionals who design, deliver, and continuously improve sales training programs aligned to Xylem’s growth priorities and go-to-market strategy. The Senior Manager partners closely with Global Sales Excellence leaders, Sales & Commercial Excellence leaders in the Segments, subject matter experts, Xylem’s Learning Core Committee, and Xylem’s HR leaders to translate capability gaps into effective learning journeys, ensure high adoption and impact, and rigorously track return on investment through measurable performance outcomes. Essential Duties/ Principal Responsibilities:Define and continuously evolve Xylem’s global Sales Learning & Development strategy in alignment with Commercial Excellence priorities and business growth objectives. Lead, coach, and develop a team of four Sales L&D professionals responsible for designing, delivering, and improving global sales training programs. Partner with Global Sales Excellence, Segment Sales & Commercial Excellence leaders, and subject matter experts to define required commercial capabilities and skills across the sales ecosystem. Identify capability gaps using performance data, stakeholder input, and business priorities, and translate them into a prioritized pipeline of learning needs. Design and oversee integrated sales learning journeys aligned to commercial capabilities, audiences, and stages of development, while maintaining flexibility to adapt as organizational needs evolve. Collaborate closely with HR leaders to align learning strategies with emerging sales role definitions, competency frameworks, and career architecture as standards are established. Prioritize learning initiatives based on business impact, readiness, scalability, and resource capacity. Drive the development, curation, and governance of high-quality sales learning content, tools, and enablement assets, including reviewing and evaluating existing learning materials, taking a comprehensive inventory, and cataloging assets into a searchable, scalable repository that enables reuse, continuous improvement, and efficient leverage of proven content across the enterprise. Determine the most effective learning modalities (e.g., live, virtual instructor-led, blended, self-paced e-learning) to maximize engagement, effectiveness, and global reach. Select, manage, and leverage external learning vendors and partners where appropriate, ensuring alignment with Xylem standards and value expectations. Build, upskill, and leverage internal facilitators to deliver consistent, high-impact learning experiences across regions. Establish and track Sales Learning & Development ROI by measuring participation, engagement, capability uplift, and commercial performance outcomes. Communicate progress, insights, and results to senior stakeholders, using data to drive continuous improvement and informed decision-making. Key Experiences:Experience leading sales learning, sales enablement, or commercial capability initiatives with a focus on evaluating, optimizing, and scaling existing content and programs. Demonstrated success assessing current learning assets, consolidating and rationalizing content, and building structured repositories that improve accessibility and reuse. Experience designing learning strategies that balance new development with enhancement of proven materials and best practices. Proven ability to partner with Sales Excellence, HR, and business leaders to align learning investments to prioritized capability needs and evolving standards. Experience managing and developing teams responsible for learning design, facilitation, and program execution. Hands-on experience selecting, managing, and collaborating with external learning vendors to complement internal capabilities rather than duplicate them. Track record of measuring learning effectiveness and ROI using participation, engagement, and performance metrics. Qualifications: Education. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Human Resources, Education, or a related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Qualifications: Competencies. Strategic Sales Learning & Development leadership, with the ability to set direction, prioritize investments, and scale impact by leveraging and improving existing assets. Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and training delivery best practices, including effective use of live, virtual, and digital learning modalities. Content governance and systems thinking capabilities, including evaluation, lifecycle management, and organization of learning assets within centralized, searchable repositories. Data-driven mindset, with the ability to define and use learning and performance metrics to assess effectiveness and return on investment. Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, development, and performance management in a global, matrixed environment. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across functions and regions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with learning platforms and tools (e.g., Workday LMS)High Impact Behaviors. Strategic Decision Making: A manager must be able to assess complex situations, consider long-term implications, and make decisions that align with the organization’s vision and goals. This involves critical thinking, foresight, and the ability to balance various stakeholders’ interests. Effective Communication: Clear and transparent communication is vital for a manager. This includes articulating vision, expectations, and feedback in a way that motivates and engages team members. It also involves active listening and openness to input from all levels of the organization. Fostering Team Growth: A high impact manager invests in the development of their team members. This behavior includes mentoring, providing opportunities for professional growth, and creating an environment where continuous learning is encouraged and valued. The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 to $150,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.
