Bechtel is partnering with Next. Decade to support their vision to provide the world access to lower carbon intensive energy with their Rio Grande LNG (RGLNG) project in Brownsville, Texas. RGLNG is a natural gas liquefaction and export terminal situated on a 984-acre site on the banks of the Brownsville ship channel. The first phase of the RGLNG project consists of three liquefaction trains, two storage tanks and one marine berth. At full capacity, the five-train facility will have a production capacity of 27 million tonnes per annum (MTPA). Job Summary: In this role, you will coordinate and update survey strategy, provide technical support for laser scanning and meteorology surveys, and oversee survey computer aided design (CAD) drawings, instrument calibration, subcontractor survey work, and project drone operations. Your recommendations will ensure drone flight safety and high quality, accurate work delivered within schedule and budget. #LI-BH 1 Major Responsibilities: Supports the survey team’s implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs. Provides technical support as related to survey to Field Engineering and Superintendents in a wide range of situation and configurations. Establishes and/or verifies and maintains the project’s survey control network. Supports the administration of the survey work request program. Completes civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records. Possesses responsibility for checking the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities. Provides oversights of the Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments. Scanning Survey Party Chief Provides laser scanning support to Construction and Project Management Establishes and maintains Dimensional Control (DC) as required Performs field scans/reality capture surveys Education and Experience Requirements: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience Required Knowledge and Skills: Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with tank construction associated earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience Knowledge of construction survey principles Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to industrial surveying field & office activities Demonstrated ability to always maintain a safe work ethic and work environment Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors, and survey functional management Self-starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work on multiple work fronts, with excellent problem-solving ability Displays effective communications skills crucial to motivating team members and presenting plans in a clear and concise manner Demonstrated experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels & GNSS survey systems, and Access field software, and advanced knowledge of data downloading. Proficiency with 3 D Survey CAD software, (Civil 3 D and Trimble Business Center), including the ability to perform and check digital computations for generation of survey layout data and drafting of as staked/as-built data; generate DT - Ms and compute volumes Intermediate level use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams Must have experience working on multiple work fronts, working under time constraints, and must be adaptable to changing conditions Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check, including verification of employment and education Must be physically capable to participate in project walkdowns, which may require the following activities, extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, some at heights exceeding 150 ft., walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in or maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 lbs without assistance. This project may have multiple work schedules that are subject to change and may require employees to work overtime, weekends and/or night shift when a business need arises Preferred Skills: Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Incidents" safety program. Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures Prior Energy GBU experience Experience as Pilot of UAV (Drones) a plus Familiarity with heavy equipment Machine Control technology Experience with 3 D Laser Scanning hardware and software Able to operate/navigate survey boat for Sonar surveys General awareness of environmental laws Awareness of government compliance standards Additional Information: Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to: extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter/egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.).
