The Nutrition Site Manager/ Driver - Casual will operate a catering vehicle to deliver meals to homebound older adults throughout Marathon and/or Wood County, transport food and supplies from caterer to dining locations, and assist in packaging meals on wheels. Typical work hours are 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, start and end time may vary somewhat due to a variety of circumstances. Employee will work as needed to fill in for sick leave, vacation, etc. Examples of Work Performed:The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Drives a catering vehicle on designated routes throughout the service area within a fixed time schedule to transport meals. Assists with packaging meals as needed; loads packaged meals into the vehicle; delivers meals to homebound older adults throughout rural service areas. Follows proper food safety and sanitation procedures; assures catering vehicle compartments are at appropriate temperatures and are clean and sanitized to maintain food safety. Assures food and meal temperatures are maintained according to safe food handling standards, and maintains temperature logs. Maintains daily operations, cleanliness, and standards of food safety for senior nutrition program services. Prepares accurate participant service documents and other data as part of the reporting requirements of the nutrition program. Performs pre-trip vehicle inspection such as checks of oil, tire pressure, transmission fluids; completes safety checklist. Maintains basic vehicle log and maintenance documents. Cleans the catering vehicle. Alerts supervisor to mechanical problems with the catering vehicle, and arranges vehicle maintenance & repair with the local automotive shop. Reviews geographic location of new customers and makes recommendations for route placement. Collaborates with the nutrition and clerical team to determine delivery route efficiency. Works closely with the Nutrition Program leadership staff and other partners as appropriate to recommend new or improved models for service improvements. Communicates daily with clerical services team regarding meal and supply orders, and for customer well-check. Alerts supervisor to changes in service, problems, unusual circumstances, and/or areas needing improvement. Formulates and makes recommendations to address issues/concerns. Maintains regular communication with appropriate ADRC-CW staff regarding observable changes in health and safety status of Senior Nutrition Program customers. Refers specific concerns about consumers to supervisor or other ADRC-CW staff as needed. Provides backup coverage for senior nutrition program services as needed. Attends meetings and training sessions as scheduled by the Nutrition Program Director or Supervisor. Delivers food and supplies between caterer, meal sites, and office. Develops solutions to work issues that add value for our customers. Maintains regular and predictable attendance. Works extra hours as required. Uses basic technology tools including email. May assist with in-home visits to assist with reassessing program eligibility. Understands the County's and department's mission, core values/trauma informed care principles, plans, and priorities for the future. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to lift 40 pounds and transport with use of a cart. Knowledge of programs and services available to elderly and disabled through the Aging & Disability Resource Center. Ability to meet physical demands required when transporting Meals on Wheels deliveries. Ability to obtain and read online maps of geographic service areas for delivery of meals. Ability to learn the safe and proper operation of a catering vehicle and safe food handling. Knowledge of geographic locations within service area--residents, housing, demographic patterns, etc. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures and requirements of a highly susceptible population. Skill in utilizing good hygiene and food safety procedures. Ability to maintain confidentiality of participants and other areas of employment. Skill in planning and organizing work effectively. Ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative. Ability to be flexible and demonstrate a positive attitude about problem solving and implementing operational changes. Ability to relate well and cooperate with co-workers, volunteers, customers, and community partners. Ability to deal courteously and tactfully with senior citizens, including the frail and chronically ill elderly, family members, and caregivers. Skill in completing records promptly and accurately. Ability to cooperate with people and communicate effectively in person, by phone, and in writing with a variety of groups and individuals. Ability to contribute to a positive work culture that fosters excellent customer service and teamwork. Qualifications:High school graduation or equivalent and some paid delivery experience preferred. Experience in food service is desirable. Serving Safe Food Training will be provided. Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards.
