The purpose of a Recycling Program Assistant Non-Supervisory position is to support the City in developing waste reduction, reuse, composting and organics recycling programs as well as conduct outreach activities to the public and to distribute educational materials. Work hours are typically between 7:30 am - 4 pm with some scheduling flexibility required due to weekend/evening events. Work Location – This position currently works on-site only. Working Conditions: Primarily indoor work in a standard office setting with some field work in the community. An updated resume is required with your application. Job Duties and Responsibilities
Assists with the development and delivery of waste reduction, reuse, recycling, organics management outreach and educational programs for Minneapolis residents, multi-unit building managers, businesses, and community organizations. Maintains a strong network of community organizations and individuals, attends neighborhood and community events aiming to educate residents on waste reduction, reuse, recycling, organics management, and environmental impacts of personal choices. Assists in planning and scheduling events and recruit, screen and train volunteers to work in programs or at events. Establishes and maintains an accurate internal and external information tracking and reporting systems to evaluate effectiveness of outreach efforts. Prepares and gives presentations on projects and programs. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum Education: Associates degree or Two Years Post High School Training in Environmental studies, Sustainability, Communications or related fields. Minimum Experience: Two years of related experience. License/ Certifications: Valid Driver's License Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position may be considered.
