Our school attracts a diverse student population from all over the area, focuses on academics, and builds confidence through the arts and athletics. We are looking to add an enthusiastic dance teacher to New West’s high school faculty to serve students in grades 9-12. Our school values student-centered learning. Teachers are expected to engage students in lessons that help them make meaning for themselves through classroom activities (demonstrations, simulations, labs, discussions, debates), assignments (creative projects and evidence-based persuasive papers), and assessments (multiple formative and summative assessments to measure progress towards mastery). Reporting Responsibilities: Reports directly to the High School Principal Job Description / Essential Elements:DANCE TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION We are looking to hire a passionate Dance Teacher to join the New West Charter School family. You will be responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles. You must ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals as a dancer. RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitate dance instruction in all pertinent dance styles such as jazz, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and lyrical dance; in person and/or online. Develop dance curriculum and prepare daily lesson plans for students in grades 9-12 Communicate effectively and respectfully with a diverse group of teachers, parents, and students Evaluate student performance and make recommendations for improvement Choreograph routines for on-campus performances and for Fall and Spring concerts Provide a fun, creative, and safe learning environment for all students Responsible for fundraising efforts for costumes, competitions, and field-trips Follow all New West Policies and Procedures QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in subject area or related field Teaching credential is required; valid California Credential in Dance EL authorization or CLAD required with California Teaching Credential Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred) Excellent communication skills Working knowledge of Google apps such as Classroom, Slide, Docs, etc. Demonstrated leadership skills Requirements / Qualifications -Bachelor's (required) -Must have current CA Teaching Credential in Dance (required) -CLAD Certification or EL Authorization (required) -1 years teaching experience (required) Requested Documents: - Cover Letter - Resume - Three professional references - Credential Information (required) - Recommendation letters Comments and Other Information Miscellaneous: - Must pass FBI/ DOJ Background/ Fingerprint test, TB Test - Able to lift 15-30 lbs without restrictions Links Related To This Job Required CA.
