Position description Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics University of California, San Francisco Associate or Full Professor, In Residence The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for full-time faculty positions at the Associate or Full rank, in the In Residence series. Context: UCSF is one of the nation’s top medical research institutions, and the UCSF Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics is the largest department of epidemiology in the University of California system. Our department provides a supportive and fertile academic environment for innovative research, with special opportunities for research on population health and health equity, study designs and biostatistical and bioinformatics analysis methods, artificial intelligence, health system-embedded clinical research, and collaboration with researchers from other departments and UCSF schools. Our department has primary responsibility within UCSF for delivering training in the methods of epidemiology, biostatistics, health data science, public health, and health services research. We teach many types of learners, including medical students, fellows, junior faculty, and students in our two master’s programs (Health Data Science and Clinical & Epidemiological Research) and in our PhD Program in Epidemiology and Translational Sciences. Duties: In Residence faculty members in our department are expected to lead an independent, extramurally funded research program; to teach, train, and mentor our students, fellows, and junior faculty; and to take on significant departmental and university service. There are also opportunities for leadership within the department. Qualifications: Candidates must have: - a doctorate in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, medicine, health policy, bioinformatics/clinical informatics, data science, or a closely related field; - a record of research excellence, including a history of successful extramural funding and high-impact peer-reviewed publications; - a record of excellence in teaching research methods; - a record of mentoring students in applied research or methods development; - extramural or other self-generated funding to cover most of their own salary for 3 years. For example, the candidate could be the current PI and/or co-investigator on grants or contracts from NIH or other funding agencies. Candidates meeting all other qualifications will be asked to provide financial projections to verify salary support. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5 The minimum base salary range for this position is $150,200 - $319,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
