Job Summary:The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) practices in collaboration with the Urology supervising physician and is responsible for assisting with all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatment, and consultations within the inpatient and/or outpatient setting. This position educates patients about preventative care and prescribed treatments; may conduct physicals, order and interpret diagnostic tests, and serve as the patient’s primary healthcare provider within the scope of practice and under the supervision of the attending urologist. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborates with the Urologist in overseeing and coordinating the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients in inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings to optimize quality patient care. Reviews patient medical charts to assist physician with diagnosis, treatment and care management. Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary. Monitors guidelines for the management of care and for ensuring that services are delivered in compliance with the guidelines established by JPS Health Network and Acclaim Physician Group. Provides care education to patients and families. Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Maintains a collaborative environment with providers, clinical staff, and support staff. Supports academic, educational and research endeavors. Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings and is an active participant in the process. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education & Training: Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing OR graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program. 2 years of clinical experience preferred. Licensure & Certification: Current Texas Physician Assistant license OR Texas APRN license (AGACNP/ ACNP). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Texas. Experience: Specialty training with urologic procedures preferred. Skills & Competencies: Knowledge of advanced techniques and care management within the urology specialty area. Knowledge and understanding of customer service principles. Knowledge of safety and security principles. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations. Skill in solving complex clinical problems and making critical decisions under pressure. Skilled in analyzing data, drawing conclusions, and making recommendations. Time management skills. Ability to collaborate with referring physicians, residents, clinical staff and support staff to provide quality patient care. Ability to present information or ideas concisely, accurately, and clearly verbally and in writing. Ability to delegate tasks appropriately, with consideration for educational level, age and developmental stage of employee. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to demonstrate patient centered and patient valued behavior. Ability to work effectively in a matrix environment. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that requires results. Physical Requirements: Prolonged standing, sitting, walking, reading, writing, talking, use of computer. Hearing ability for verbal communication via telephone systems, and person-to-person and to perform assessments such as obtaining blood pressure, cardiac or breath sounds. Clear concise speaking ability to provide information and instruction. Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information. Manual and tactile dexterity for palpation, use of computer keyboard/typing, writing, handling/sorting objects and forms. Flexibility and body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling, standing, reaching, lifting and moving objects and equipment (approximately 25 lbs. or more with assistance), sitting. Able to meet physical demands of the job with assistive or adaptive devices or reasonable accommodations. Work Environment: Work is indoors and may be subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours. Exposure to environment temperature changes, hazardous/noxious fumes, fetid smells, air/blood borne pathogens such as HIV, Hep. B, TB, and other contagious diseases. Environment is noisy, involves frequent interruptions or distractions. Duties subject to stressful pressures and deadlines.
