Manages, plans, organizes, and evaluates tertiary hospital infection prevention and control related activities and staff. Supports the leadership in implementing related initiatives to improve patient safety. Job Responsibility Provides leadership to Infection Prevention team members and supervisors by communicating and guiding toward achieving department objectives. Develops, communicates, and builds consensus for goals in alignment with the health system. Ensures implementation and evaluation of hospitals infection prevention goals, objectives, plans, policies, and procedures. Selects, develops, manages, and evaluates staff; prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors work to optimize operational service. Manages hospital infection surveillance and risk assessment activities in accordance with internal and external guidelines; ensures identification and resolution of infection risks to patients, staff and community. Facilitates investigations on epidemiologically important infections, clusters, and exposures to identify sources. Reports findings to the leadership and expedites interventions and risk reduction strategies; ensures all hospital stakeholders are informed of activity. Provides infection prevention orientation and regular in-services to hospital staff that address standards of care, infection risks, evidence-based practices, sterilization, high/low level disinfection, hand hygiene, instrument and equipment storage, etc. Partners with multidiscipline team members within hospital to optimize patient care and maintain/increase compliance with infection prevention and control practices. Promotes proactive identification and elimination of infectious risks throughout the hospital. Ensures compliance with government and agency regulations; prepares for and participates in external regulatory reviews to maintain accreditation(s); maintains integrity of related conventional and computer-aided records and information. Duties not mentioned here, but considered related are not essential functions. Job Qualification Bachelors Degree in Microbiology, Medical. Technology, Public Health, Nursing or related field, required. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State, preferred. Current certification by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) within two (2) years of entry date into position .-8 years of relevant experience, required and 2-5 years of leadership/management experience, required. - Additional Salary Detail.
