Gilbane is seeking a Community Impact & Engagement Specialist to lead the implementation of business and/or workforce inclusion programs and activities to maximize the involvement of diverse-owned and small businesses and local and diverse trade workforce on construction projects. This role supports a portfolio of construction projects in the execution of community impact plans. This role will sit primarily in the office. Who are we? Responsibilities Develops and fosters relationships with external stakeholders including organizations, clients, and small and diverse businesses Participates in community events and organizational activities that promote community impact and engagement or provide networking opportunities Provides support materials for proposals/presentations Supports planning of outreach events for small and diverse businesses and/or trade workforce Maintains documentation of outreach activities Maintains up-to-date knowledge of procedures on how to work with Gilbane Maintains lists of local diverse-owned and small businesses Supports development and maintenance of the Community Impact Plan and the Community Impact Roadmap Advocates for small and diverse businesses throughout the buy-out process Tracks small and diverse participation against goals Tracks workforce participation against goals Prepares status reports for review by management Audits prequalification records to determine registered and approved small and diverse-owned and small businesses and their status Track small and diverse participation and workforce participation against goals primarily for Chicago but may include Wisconsin and Indiana Qualifications EXPERIENCE/ EDUCATION - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, Public Relations, Communications, or a related field 2-5 years of experience in community impact/supplier diversity, consulting, or community relations Or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment Passion for diversity and impact advocacy Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with an emphasis in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; advanced Excel abilities & use of spreadsheets and database systems Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills Knowledge of the Construction industry Strong problem solving, analytical, and fact-finding abilities Ability to learn and utilize business enterprise and/or workforce compliance platforms Salary to be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience of the applicant, as well as the internal equity and alignment with the team. For Chicago, IL, this ranges from $84,700 - $126,700 plus benefits and retirement program.
