The Solid Waste Department is looking for a Landfill Gate Attendant to join our team! This position provides directions to the public using county landfill facilities, handles monetary transactions, and provides professional customer service. To learn more about what we do, visit
Responsibilities
What you'll be doing:Collect and process fees and charges while maintaining accurate records and logs. Greet visitors using the County’s landfill facilities, inspect refuse contents, and direct customers to the appropriate dumping areas. Monitor for potential hazards, such as fires or toxic and flammable chemicals, and notify appropriate landfill personnel. Ensure all dumped refuse complies with County rules and policies for landfill operations. Direct traffic at the front gate and/or dumpsite as needed. What we're looking for:Proficiency in routine software and business applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and databases. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees, agency representatives, and community members. Commitment to using safe work practices. Willingness to learn and apply relevant landfill laws, rules, and regulations. Capability to perform duties independently with minimal supervision. Dedication to providing professional customer service to clients and the public.
