The Marketing & Communications Intern provides general department support to promote each of the CRVA's brands. To be considered, the intern must be available to work approximately 20 hours a week onsite at the Charlotte Convention Center. A successful candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, self-motivated, and able to demonstrate the ability to respond effectively to changing workloads and priorities. Candidates must possess strong communication skills and professional business etiquette. Candidates should have previous intern experience and success supporting marketing and communications efforts in a fast-paced environment. Job Responsibilities Essential Job Duties. Develop professional relationships with team members to gain a comprehensive understanding of marketing and communications functions across the CRVA. Audit, write, update, and publish planned content for websites, social media channels, email campaigns, presentations, and moreSupport earned media efforts by tracking earned placements, updating media lists, writing media materials, and distributing press releases. Assist with the creation of multimedia content, including graphics, videos, and presentations. Monitor and track campaign analytics using tools to measure key performance indicators and share insights from data with the team. Conduct research and evaluate competitor marketing and communications efforts to inspire new ideas. Provide in-person support at industry, venue, marketing, and CRVA events as needed. Carry out administrative and data entry-related tasks and maintain organized files for the department. May perform other duties as required. Consistently deliver the best in customer service. This job will have periodic access to confidential data including financial statements, company records and/or minutes, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs. Supervisory Responsibility. This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Knowledge and Skill Requirements. Strong desire to learn along with professional drive. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applied understanding of basic marketing and communications principles. Creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Self-starter with ability to work independently. Comfortable with multitasking in a deadline-driven environment. Maintains professional attire, image, and demeanor as outlined in the CRVA Policy Manual. Self-motivated team player with a positive outlook. Education and Experience. Currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. Student seeking a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in marketing, communications or related field. Aptitude and interest in hospitality and tourism industry is preferred. Successful completion of introductory courses in marketing, communications, business, or equivalent. Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.). Physical Demands. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel and talk or hear.
