Aircraft Structures Mechanic - Housing Support, $600 Per Diem - DEFENSE LOCATION: San Antonio, TX PAY RATE: $45-50/hour We are a national aerospace and defense staffing agency seeking highly qualified candidates for a position with a top-tier client. Do you meet the educational and experience requirements for this role? Can you commute to the job location or relocate if necessary? Summary: Perform close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation on critical and fracture-critical structures Install new structural items, locate blind holes, and perform sealing, painting, shimming, and preservation per standard repair processes Read and interpret engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements Access and use computer systems daily for work instructions, drawings, and training Use tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot-level modification and repair of structural parts Troubleshoot and repair aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical systems Lead or mentor less senior technicians; provide guidance and technical expertise for complex tasks Operate forklifts, mobile cranes, and riding-type electric powered elevating equipment Maintain certifications, licenses, and permits required for assigned work Work various shifts, including weekends and holidays; may require scheduled and unscheduled overtime Work 100% onsite with potential travel up to 25% Requirements: Secret clearance (post-start) 4 years of on-aircraft heavy structures experience; include aircraft platform and years of experience on resume Experience with close tolerance drilling, reaming, removal, and installation of critical support structures including doublers, triplers, seat tracks, planks, stringers, etc. Ability to obtain customer approval for aircraft access (dual or prior foreign citizenship may limit eligibility) Experience with non-porous metals (aluminum, titanium, stainless) Proficiency in reading schematics, assembly drawings, and standard operating procedures Experience with hand tools for structures (drills, countersinks, rivet guns, hole finders, adapters) Knowledge of shop mathematics and practices Proficient computer skills including aircraft systems and basic office software Ability to obtain customer access approval; will undergo 3rd party background check Ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 35 lbs (2-person lift for Frequent overhead reaching, walking, standing, and balancing on ladders or uneven surfaces Occasional climbing, squatting, crawling, bending, stooping, sitting, lying down, and operating foot controls Frequent exposure to noise and occasional contact with metals Use personal protective equipment as required Must be a U.S. Citizen (as defined by ITAR).
