Then you’ll have success on our Design team that owns the design and development of all Target-owned brands, from apparel to home goods, and beauty to essentials. In close partnership with our merchant and sourcing counterparts, you’ll drive brand cohesion and continuity, ensuring that our products meet the merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points and overall creative direction. As a Denim Associate Designer, you'll be accountable for denim design, Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from your Principal Designer and design leaders to achieve overall product strategy and merchant objectives. You will utilize your proficiency/expertise in denim product design and development to achieve the following:You'll support and drive concepts throughout the development process, research, selection of materials, washes, and the creation of silhouettes/form language. Using CAD/hand sketches, you'll translate ideas for product direction. This includes preparing professional presentation boards with illustrations, CAD artwork, fabrication, and material samples. In addition, you will support and drive product designs to maintain overall creative direction, merchant line plans, assortment strategies, and price points. Under the overall direction of Design leadership, you will work with an assigned category, brand, business, or guest segment and manage your own process and calendar. You will be expected to maintain a diligent approach to workload, which includes timely communication with internal and external partners. You'll build brand cohesion by partnering with peers across the division to ensure continuity. In collaboration with technical designers/engineers and sourcing partners, you'll also identify, troubleshoot, and resolve product issues. Core responsibilities are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs. About You:Demonstrate love for Denim, wash and design. Must possess a general understanding of the fashion industry and demonstrate an elevated taste level, and awareness of denim trends and conceptual work. Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art or related field, or equivalent experience 2 years of relevant experience in Denim, Non-Denim washed product Computer design system skills including In. Design, Illustrator and Photoshop Experience in CAD illustration or 2 D/3 D software. Experience in wash concept, development, and wash review/comments. Experience in shared Design tools like Miro board, Canva or similar is a plus. Experience or interest in sustainability, circular design, and eco-friendly washing. Knowledge of textiles, denim garment construction/fit. Commercial sense, market knowledge, ability to research and apply market/trend information. Experience assimilating product feedback. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Experience working in a retail or product development environment. Ability to build relationships to successfully work in a team environment. Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative and cost-effective design solutions. This position may be considered for a Remote or Hybrid (known internally at Target as "Flex for Your Day") work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Remote work arrangement means the team member works full-time from home or an alternate location that's not a Target location, does not have a desk at a Target location and may travel to HQ up to 4 times a year. A Hybrid/ Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role may be performed either remote or onsite at a Target location depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day. Work duties cannot be performed outside of the country of the primary work location, unless otherwise prescribed by Target.
