This position is integral to the asphalt marketing team that is responsible for creating value through deal making, risk taking and asset optimization. What You’ll Do Negotiate term and spot asphalt deals throughout North and Central America Work closely with multiple refineries and schedulers to place planned asphalt production Provide short and long term pricing input to planning/modeling tools Make Phillips 66the preferred supplier to multiple markets Analyze and understand asphalt supply and demand and manage inventory risk Understand freight costs to/from major asphalt suppliers to major markets Analyze market competition Manage direct deals to other asphalt marketers, traders, paving contractors, emulsion manufacturers, roofing and commercial users Collaborate with logistics schedulers and planners to buy, sell, and trade barrels via all modes Provide feedback for short and long term logistics needs for barges, railcars, and trucks Track customer specific P&L Manage allocations when such issues arise, communicate the allocation to customers and manage the allocated volumes accordingly Establish and maintain external industry relationships to buy/sell (trade) asphalt and to understand markets and market drivers Work with our internal Credit department to ensure we are within acceptable risk parameters Work with other internal and external heavy oil traders to stay on top of all market influences Administer contracts, including deal input and amendments in SAP Provide business metrics, volume performance and profitability Serve as lead interface to many customers in the US and abroad Provide feedback to internal management on arbitration opportunities, marketing and logistics opportunities and business improvements Maximize volume and margins to extract the highest possible netback to the company Manage high pressure negotiations What You’ll Bring – Required Legally authorized to work in the United States Bachelor’s degree or higher 5 or more years of direct sales and negotiation experience Advanced or greater proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred Experience in oil, logistics, trading, roofing, and/or road construction industries Proficient with SAP or similar system Critical skills for the role include: Proactive and self-motivated Deliver results on time and keep commitments Organized and able to manage a wide variety of tasks as the same time Commercial acumen and negotiating Compensation Range This position has a base salary range of $171,000 to $209,000. This role is eligible to participate in the company’s commercial bonus program, offering the opportunity to earn additional compensation based on business and individual performance, in accordance with program guidelines. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
