The Department of Philosophy at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track Lecturer position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching mission of the department by delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction in philosophy. Responsibilities include teaching introductory philosophy, ethics, logic and critical thinking, and other courses consistent with departmental needs, along with participating in student mentoring and departmental service. Additional Requirements At least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level is required. Candidates must be currently legally eligible to work in the United States. Relevant/ Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies Competitive applicants will demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness appropriate to the rank, though a substantial record of teaching undergraduate philosophy courses is particularly desirable. The department especially welcomes candidates with a record of teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses—including areas such as Ancient and Medieval philosophy, Philosophy of Mind, Logic, and Applied Ethics. A strong commitment to undergraduate education with a record of contributing to curricular development, assessment, academic service, or interdisciplinary programs is also valued.
